10DecWeek #6 Wednesday exercise / 60 min (6.7 km)

Today’s exercise was an one hour workout, mostly incline walking, but quite intensive and long.

The formula for today was: 10/10/40/10:

  • 10 minute warm up
  • 10 minute running at 9 kmh
  • 40 minutes of incline walking (from 6-12%)
  • 10 minutes of cooling down

My treadmill showed me I have burned 635 calories and if this is true I’m really happy. I’ll go and rest now. :)

Btw. while exercising I was watching U-571. Great movie … can’t wait to see the second part of it … on the treadmill.

08DecWeek #6 Monday exercise / 35 min (3.8 km)

This exercise was short but sweet :D

I did 10 min warm up by walking, 5 minute run at 9 kmh and 20 min walk with incline.

I have burned 297 calories.

Nothing special but it was a nice and quick workout.

07DecWeek #6 Sunday exercise / 46 min (4.7 km)

Today’s exercise was 5/30/11:

  • 5 minutes of warm up walk
  • 30 minutes of 6.5 kmh walk with 6-12% incline
  • 11 minutes of cooling down

In this nice exercise I have burned 501 calories and I feel this has been a beginning of a great week on the treadmill. Back on track.

07DecSummary of week #5 (185 min/18.4 km/2096 cal)

This week I had only two incline walking exercises due to my poor health. In these 185 minutes I have burned 2096 calories and walked the distance of 18.4 km.

It was not my best week, but I have managed to get the best out of it.

07DecWeek #5 Saturday exercise / 105 min (11.1 km)

I’m already healthy as a fish :) so I started my revival exercise with the movie Thelma & Louise and incline walking. As the movie is long I didn’t manage to get to the end (I think only 5-10 minutes are still waiting for me) but I have walked with 5-12% incline for 105 minutes (1 h 45 min). The distance at the end was 11.1 km and I have burned 1133 calories.

A day after my legs hurt a bit but I’m on the right track to exercise regularly again.

03DecWeek #5 Tuesday exercise / 80 min (7.3 km)

Because I’m still not 100% healthy, but in desperate need of exercise I have decided to do only incline walking. I didn’t want to have an exhausting exercise but instead I have planned a low speed, high incline exercise.

So I slowly increased the speed and incline. The speed later stopped at 5.5 kmh and incline was up to 12%.  I was watching movie Contact while walking and there was no problem to burn 936 calories.

I think I will repeat he same exercise at least one this week and hopefully I’ll be ready to run by the end of the week.

01DecFacilitating long runs

I have written before about spending long hours on the treadmill and because you are not outside and not running in the nature, you won’t see the changes in the environment. On treadmill you are static - running all the time in the same place and that becomes boring after a while (or even in the first week).

So what to make an exercise stimulating and maybe even entertaining. You can watch TV, listen to music, video, have a conversation on the phone, reading a book (well I haven’t tried it yet) … I have chosen to have my laptop in front of me.

At first I have made some ad hoc solutions to have it on the right height, but this weekend I have managed to buy a shelf and mount it on the wall. 20 minutes of work because I needed to dig 2 holes in the wall and a few turns with the screwdriver.

My new view is now this:

I love the screen in my eye height, I love speakers and I can’t wait to test them with some great concert DVD.

01DecSummary of week #4 (240 min/27.3 km/2320 cal)

On week #4 I managed only 4 exercises (partly because I had some work to do in my new flat and because my health got a bit shaky in the middle of the weekend). I hope I’ll be OK in the next few days and I’ll try to do only some light exercises until I’ll be 100%.

Even though I did 4 hours of running and walking in the previous week - this was 27.3 km. Altogether I have burned 2320 calories (which is great). Hopefully next week will be even better.
